About Us

PILAS (Partnership for Independence, Learning, and Achieving Self-Sustainability) is a women’s housekeeping cooperative dedicated to increasing the economic independence of its members—many of whom are single mothers and/or victims of domestic violence—who face many barriers to sustained and lucrative employment. The cooperative is entirely worker-owned and operated and provides opportunities for personal development such as collective decision-making, leadership opportunities, professional-development workshops, and vocational English as a second language classes. PILAS is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation.
